Share your late night transit story for Week Without Driving

Are you ready for Week Without Driving 2026?

This year, Nondrivers Alliance is partnering with King County Metro to highlight the importance of late-night transit. Can you send us a video about why late-night transit matters for you? Leading up to Week Without Driving this year, October 1-8, we’ll be compiling and sharing these stories on social media.

In addition to late night transit, our other theme for Week Without Driving this year is sidewalks. Join us October 5 for a special event with Sidewalk Nation author Michael Pollack at the University of Washington. RSVP now to save a spot, either in person or for the livestream.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing about more Week Without Driving events organized by our partners across King County and Washington. For starters, check out

·   Move Redmond’s Week Without Driving art contest

·   Maury Island Transit Trek October 1 with Transit Trekker and King County Parks

·   And don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok. Plus check out our new podcast, nondriver, on YouTube or wherever you like to listen.

What is Week Without Driving?

For people who can grab their keys and go, transportation often isn’t a major concern. But for those of us who can’t drive or can’t afford to, transportation is something we think about daily. We care about accessibility because it can make the difference between getting to do the things that connect us to our communities, like running errands, seeing a friend, or getting to an appointment — or being stuck at home and isolated.

A third of Washingtonians are nondrivers like us, due to age, disability and the high cost of car ownership. Yet most communities are built around the assumption that everyone drives. Week Without Driving challenges this narrative, highlighting the stories and experiences of nondrivers. We ask participants to ride the bus, walk, scoot, bike or ask for rides during the week to better understand the gaps that exist and why we need to invest to make our communities more accessible.

Week Without Driving wouldn’t be possible without our allies and partners. Amazon, a strong advocate of public transportation throughout the Puget Sound region, has supported Week Without Driving for five years with funding that has allowed the initiative to develop and grow to include more than 700 cohosting organizations across all fifty US states, Canada and Australia. We’re also grateful to ongoing support from the Seattle Foundation and TransitCenter, and to our 2026 Week Without Driving sponsors: King County Metro, Veo, Hopelink, Alstom, Arcadis, Washington State Department of Transportation, Toole Design, Project Sidewalk, PacTrans and Transportation Choices Coalition.
